The vehicle has 188,000 kilometers and the engine is presently running fine with no noticeable noises. I do not hear the sound at idle. I have listened with my mechanics stethoscope and I can hear the ticking coming from the valve cover over cylinders 1-3.Rev the motor and if the noise goes away at a specific rpm, then it's the tensioner. Run some cleaner through the motor to clean up the valves. Something like Seafoam, BG Engine flush, or even some ATF in the oil will clear out the oil passage. Get a valve lash adjustment. 2006 Pilot 2WD 125K.

Honda agreed with me that they should have advised me that the oil leak may damage the alternator, therefore they covered the cost for a new alternator (was a few months outside of the 1 year warranty). I did have to pay for the new spool valve. Cost approx $750 Canadian. Part was $230, plus a few hours labour.Check parking brake adjustment. Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots. Inspect suspension components. Inspect driveshaft boots. Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS). Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids, and check for leaks. Inspect exhaust system. Inspect fuel lines and connections. Inspect and adjust drive belts.
